Bemerkung:   Auf dem Briefkopf des handschriftlich verfassten Briefs von Michel Buthe (Köln) an Jean-Christophe Ammann in der Kunsthalle Basel befinden sich drei blaue Stempel. Ein Stempel mit zwei beflügelten Löwen, die einen Stern halten. Der zweite Stempel zeigt eine Gesichtsmaske, die zur Hälfte dunkel zur Hälfte weiß ist, darüber die Worte „The Last Empire“ und der dritte Stempel besteht aus einem gezackten Kreis entlang dessen Rand die Worte „COLONIA AGRIPPINENSIS ORIENTALIS IMPERIALE PHANTASTICO“ gedruckt sind. Buthe datiert den Brief auf den 18. April 1978 und bedankt sich für Ammanns vorausgehendes Schreiben. Er berichtet, dass er kurz in Marrakech war und er sich der Größe seines Vorhabens bewusst ist, aber sich sehr freuen würde, wenn dies klappt. Aktuell arbeitet er an Büchern und Räumen für einen WDR Spielfilm mit dem Titel „Phantomas Phantastico. The last Empire“, in dem ein Prinz aus einer nordafrikanischen Region ihn besucht. Das Drehbuch möchte er Ammann noch zusenden. Er werde demnächst in die Schweiz kommen, um etwas mit Toni Gerber und Pablo Stähli zu machen und ihn im Rahmen dessen auch sehen. Er richtet liebe Grüße auch an Ammanns Frau aus. Der Brief befand sich in einem Umschlag, der in Buthes Handschrift an Ammann in der Kunsthalle Basel adressiert ist. // There are three blue stamps on the letterhead of the handwritten letter from Michel Buthe (Cologne) to Jean-Christophe Ammann in the Kunsthalle Basel. One stamp shows two winged lions holding a star. The second stamp shows a face mask, half of which is dark and half white, with the words “The Last Empire” above it and the third stamp consists of a jagged circle with the words “COLONIA AGRIPPINENSIS ORIENTALIS IMPERIALE PHANTASTICO” printed along the edge. Buthe dates the letter to 18 April 1978 and thanks Ammann for his previous letter. He reports that he was briefly in Morocco and that he is aware of the size of his project, but would be very happy if it works out. He is currently working on books and rooms for a WDR feature film entitled "Phantomas Phantastico. The last Empire", in which a prince from a North African region visits him. He still wants to send Ammann the script. He will soon be coming to Switzerland to do something with Toni Gerber and Pablo Stähli and will also see him as part of this. He also sends his best wishes to Ammann’s wife. The letter was in an envelope addressed to Ammann at the Kunsthalle Basel in Buthe’s handwriting.
