Bemerkung:   Das Farbdia zeigt eine Ausstellungsansicht von Michael Buthes Ausstellung „Le Dieux de Babylon“, die vom 27. Januar bis 24. Februar 1974 im Kunstmuseum Luzern zu sehen war. Es handelt sich um Dia 15/18 einer Fotoserie (JCA1BUTH008–JCA1BUTH025). Die Wände eines spärlich beleuchteten Raums sind mit roten, bodenlangen Tüchern behängt. In der Ecke des Ausstellungsraums steht auf einem dunklen Tuch eine Installation aus mehreren Objekten mit Holz, Stöcken, Goldfolie und Glitzer. An der Wand links von der Installation sind zwei Werke aufgehängt. Das eine Gemälde besteht aus einem goldenen Grund, der sich in eine rotbraune Fläche öffnet, die von goldenen verschnörkelten Linien umrahmt wird. Bei dem anderen Werk handelt es sich um eine Collage. Buthe übermalte ein fotografisches Selbstporträt und ergänzte es mit bunter Kleidung, gelben Haaren und einer Maske. Die Fotografie verschwindet fast hinter großen gelblichen Farbflächen, die durch eine Collage aus blau und weiß bemalten Papierstücken umrahmt wird. Ein Druck dieses Werks befindet sich in der Künstleredition, die zur Ausstellung herausgegeben wurde (JCA1BUTH004). // The color slide shows an exhibition view of Michael Buthe’s exhibition “Le Dieux de Babylon,” which was on view at the Kunstmuseum Luzern from 27 January to 24 February 1974. This is slide 15/18 of a photo series (JCA1BUTH008–JCA1BUTH025). The walls of a sparsely lit room are draped with red, floor-length cloths. In the corner of the exhibition space, an installation of several objects made of wood, sticks, gold foil and glitter stands on a dark cloth. Two works are hung on the wall to the left of the installation. One painting consists of a golden background that opens up into a reddish-brown surface framed by golden ornate lines. The other work is a collage. Buthe painted over a photographic self-portrait and added colorful clothing, yellow hair, and a mask. The photograph almost disappears behind large yellowish areas of color, which are framed by a collage of pieces of paper painted blue and white. A print of this work can be found in the artist’s edition published for the exhibition (JCA1BUTH004).
